The mission of New Economics for Women is to create economic and educational opportunities for single parents, families and disinvested communities as a pathway for dreams to come true.

NEW Opens SFV Homeownership Center

New Economics for Women didn’t wait until Cinco de Mayo to break out the balloons, mariachis, food and fanfare.  On May 4, 2012, NEW hosted a lively celebration to announce the opening of its latest Homeownership Center in the City of San Fernando.   NEW will be offering free services such as home buyer education workshops and homeownership counseling at the SFV office thanks to the generous support of Union Bank and the Union Bank Foundation.

Jennifer Livingston, Union Bank Senior VP and Division Manager, Residential Lending, Carol Luna, Union Bank VP and Branch Manager,  Antonio Lopez, Mayor Pro Tem of the City of San Fernando, Andrea Osorio, NEW Director of Homeownership, and Maggie Cervantes, NEW Executive Director cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Maggie Cervantes noted that NEW has already helped125 families become first-time homeowners  and thanked Union Bank for helping to make dreams come true. Mayor Lopez welcomed NEW, describing the opening of NEW’s SFV Homeowership Center as a proud moment for the community. Twenty-seven year old NEW client Vanessa Benitez described how the homeownership education and support she received from NEW has paid off – she is in escrow on her first home!
